Fraser Thomson: Man charged with attempted murder
A Sydney man charged with attempted murder after allegedly breaking into his on-again off-again girlfriend’s home was repeatedly arrested earlier in the month accused of breaching apprehended violence orders.
Fraser Alexander Thomson, 41, was due to appear before Parramatta Local Court after being arrested at the Kellyville home of his former partner Lauren Salamakis on Tuesday.
It’s alleged Mr Thomson breached an apprehended violence order when he broke into her home early on Tuesday morning.
Police allege he entered the home and threatened the residents with a machete before being involved in a physical altercation with Ms Salamakis’ former husband, Paul Salamakis, who was sleeping on a downstairs sofa.
It’s alleged that Mr Salamakis was stabbed and suffered wounds to his hands and was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment.
Mr Thomson was restrained by Mr Salamakis until police arrived and he was arrested.
He was taken to hospital under police guard before being taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he was charged with a raft of offences.
He has been charged with assault with intent to murder, break and enter dwelling and inflicting grievous bodily harm, special aggravated break and enter and commit a serious indictable offence and contravening prohibition/restriction in AVO.
According to court documents, Mr Thomson, from North Kellyville, was first arrested and charged on August 3 and charged with four counts of stalk or intimidate intending to cause physical or mental harm to Ms Salamakis.
He is alleged to have twice breached an apprehended domestic violence order in the space of a week and was re-arrested on August 6 and August 12.
He is charged with further breaching the same AVO when he allegedly went to Ms Salamakis’ home on Tuesday morning.
He was due to appear in Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, however the matter was dealt with without him making an appearance.
His barrister, Kirk Dailly, told the court that he had attempted to speak to Mr Thomson via videolink in jail however he had refused to appear on the link.
Magistrate Peter Feather noted it was probably futile trying to make him appear in court via videolink.
Mr Thompson was due to face court a day earlier however did not appear after being arrested early on Tuesday, the court heard.
He did not make an application for bail on Wednesday and will remain in custody until at least his next court appearance in October.
