EXCLUSIVE: Premiere of Cali Rodi's New Single 'Cake'
Fast rising singer Cali Rodi is gearing up for the release of her brand new single ‘Cake’ which will be available to download from tomorrow (Friday, April 6th). The track is a message of female empowerment which tells the story of a girl who has finally had enough of that guy who doesn’t treat her the right way.
The new single from the songstress is the follow up to “Party Favor,” in which she promotes the principle that women are not “prizes” to men – or “party favors” from parties.
Speaking about the inspiration and story about ‘Cake’, Cali Rodi says: “Cake is a song I wrote while talking to a guy who couldn’t commit. He wanted me all to himself, but at the same time, he wasn’t ready to stop seeing other people. He wanted to have his cake and eat it too. During that time I’d find myself in my car blasting the demo of “Cake” nonstop and that helped me realize that I finally needed to let him go. Sometimes you need to take your own advice. I figured if this song could help me through that weird limbo, it’s bound to help somebody else too. I think it’s important for girls to know that it’s okay to be like, ‘No! If you want to be with me, then be with me. If not, don’t waste my time!’ I’m a hopeless romantic and want to give every guy with this mentality the benefit of the doubt, but I personally don’t think you can give any relationship a real shot while actively seeking out other people. And ladies, know your worth! I want a guy who looks like a kid in a candy store when he sees me. I fell into the trap of letting somebody else call the shots while I waited around far too long for a commitment that just wasn’t coming. I waited for him to text first. To make plans. I was under the impression we had a few hangout spots that were special to us…then I found out he’d been taking other girls to the exact same places. Like at least be a little creative! That was the last time I’ll ever fall for vanilla.”
